For His Eyes Alone

“That’s just it” the Spy said “This isn’t about law. It’s… about the done thing. Protocol”

“Consideration!!” the Spy grunted “He puts protocol before anything else”

The Morning Prayer

It was a wintry morning in Bangalore, but like none other. Hanging lightly from dull dark morning clouds, a translucent veil of mist descended down to the moist treetops. Nestled within this veil, dampness adorned the trees like it would a woman’s tresses after a bath. The air was incensed by roses, neems and gulmohars [...]

Vulture Indian Mythology

A Valiant Bird’s Tale

As I lay motionless on the ground, the summer heat baked the earth.  A gust whipped up the powderous earth into a cloud of dust. There was no one in the wide expanse and I could see for miles.  As I lay in embrace of the Earth, the primal colors of my land kept me [...]

Bollywood Hits in 2009 ? Few And Far Inbetween

Bollywood Hits in 2009 ? Few And Far Inbetween

Shruthi Hassan and Imran Khan’s ‘Luck’ had a ‘Luck’wa(stroke) at the box office. Luck eluded Shruthi’s dad too. Again. If the director had agreed to Kamal’s suggestion and let him play Asin’s and Mallika Sherawat’s role too, maybe it would have clicked ? We should do better ? For a movie industry that’s prides as the largest in the world, the 2009 fare has been abysmal. Don’t you agree ? What do you think ails us ?

My Name Is Gulmohar

My Name Is Gulmohar

I am Gulmohar — that’s my pen-name. Does it make you wonder what sort of a person I am ? Female or male? Does it denote the tree or its beautiful flowers? Why the hell would a person name oneself after a tree anyways? Gulmohar to me is a tag that denotes a “state of [...]
