Thiruvallavar And Sarvagna Feel At Home

Amid tight security, a bronze statue of Tamil saint-poet Thiruvalluvar was finally unveiled at Bangalore recently by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, ending an 18-year standoff on the issue following opposition from pro-Kannada groups. A reciprocal statue of the Kannada poet Sargavga dons Chennai as well. Now that the row has ended, both poets heaved a sigh of relief. A cartoonist captures this palpable relief and as to how both the poets are finally at home in their new surroundings.
