Katha Sagar Pre-Launch Post Staging Open !

Katha Sagar Pre-Launch Post Staging Open !

Dear Members,

The Katha Sagar Pre-Launch post staging is NOW OPEN. You can log-in to INDImag.com and stage your stories (add, format, align, embellish with photos) and submit. Once submitted, Gyan or I will look into it and if all is well, we will publish it on March-08 ; else you will see an email from us for the needed information. Below are some key pointers :

  1. Dates :
    • Contest (& Voting By Members) : MARCH-08 THRU APR-01 . Closes APRIL-01 at 23.59 IST
    • Experts’ Review and Voting : APRIL-02 to APRIL-06
    • RESULTS : APRIL-07
  2. 2 posts per person that can be published any time in the 3 week period. New, unpublished posts only.
  3. Be sure to email us a picture you want us to use with the post. Randomly your post *maybe* selected to be displayed in the featured carousel on the main page.
  4. Do NOT cross-post anyplace else for the length of the contest. 1-paragraph excerpts posted elsewhere are fine.
  5. Voting is open from the first day itself and will remain open till the contest closes. Votes once cast cannot be changed. Votes/Trends will be visible on ‘KATHA SAGAR MAIN’ during the last week of the contest and during the phase-2 while experts are deciding on their rating. That page will also list ALL Katha Sagar posts. Alternatively you can choose the KATHA SAGAR category in the lower-top category banner and get to all the posts as well. Vote objectively. Your rating will be confidential.
  6. ALL votes are moderated. If in doubt, we will contact the member to clarify the vote. Please be sure to leave objective comments to substantiate your voting. Voting against a post to help another(friend’s) will be challenged and the voter will be asked to justify the too high/too low score. If the justification is not just and the intent to wrongly influence is evident, the KathaSagar team will look into discarding that vote.
  7. Please do not vote for a post as it is by a friend/relative. Do so because it deserves it. Again like in 6, if we doubt cartel forming to influence voting either way (for a candidate/against an opponent of a candidate) we will contact the member and if not convinced present the case to KathaSagar board for consideration.
  8. Katha Sagar Moderators will have the option to inject 0-5 posts that did not make the TOP-12 as wild card picks. This is to ensure good posts do not pay the price for it’s author’s lack of following. At the end of the day, Katha Sagar is a story writing contest and the best story ought to win ; not the best networked author.
  9. You can specify (via email) a rough time when you want your post to go live after March-08. So say someone wants to post their story on the morning of March-13, we can. Just let us know.
  10. ON ALL DISPUTES, EDITORIAL DECISION WILL HAVE THE FINAL SAY. You agree to that by submitting your post to the contest..

Spin a tale or two and may the best story win !

Gyan has made a real nice flyer detailing the contest spirit and re-iterating the rules. It will be mailed to you.

Detailed Rules are As Published Here : http://www.indimag.com/2010/02/18/indimags-katha-sagar-contest-usd-150-in-prizes/

Warm Regards,
Katha Sagar Team

About the Author

Madhu Rao

I'm Madhu Rao. You know how blogs and discussions are supposed to be dynamic and exciting but they're usually dull and boring? I have some practical ideas to present them in an entertaining way -- with your help. The result, hopefully, is that people stay awake, have a good time, and return-contribute to INDIMAG. I'm the publisher-founder of INDIMAG and would love to hear from you as to how we are doing. Drop me a line at indimag@gmail.com ie indimag [at] gmail [dot] com with any questions, thoughts, ideas or a plain "Hello". I would appreciate it.

Blog :

  • when is the last date to submit april 9th ??? pls tell me ..soon
  • Is it compulsory to put in two posts? Or is it just one story that if necessary, can be broken into two posts?
  • Nope it isn't Arun. You can just do 1 or do 2 or do 1 in 2 parts ; max
    is 2
  • Hi Madhu !
Actually I registered myself for Katha sagar few days back and I received the password as well. But could not find my name in the list of registered members.I am still unaware of the procedure. If I wish to comment on any of the stories do I need to login first.
  • Geeta,
I'm an editor at INDImag and wanted to answer this. The new commenting system (Disqus) has it's own registry and is not tied to the site login unfortunately. So to comment, just sign in with your Facebook, Yahoo, Twitter or Discuss account ; if you do not use any of those(I don't, I just use Gmail), do sign up with Disqus as more and more people are using Disqus and it may help you ; takes under 2 minutes to sign up and no Disqus does not pay me to say that :-) .

I do see you have a valid account on INDImag -- that's for posting articles etc. To reset the password use the META section on the right sidebar all the way at the bottom on the main page; when you click login it will let you retrieve the password as well . If you still have issues mail us at indimag@gmail.com and I'll help you :-)
  • Hi,
I'd made my submission on Thursday or Friday night. I still haven;t got any confirmation of the submission. When will it come?
  • It will be live tomorrow ; unless asked for a postponement it's the
order in which they come in Arun(add the need, lack of it thereof, to
contact the author) . Yours will be live tomorrow
  • Sadly I can write no stories :( but love to read them.. here's to the Katha Sagar's success. best wishes to you Madhu and good luck to all the participants :)
  • I gonna participate in this!! I'm excited as well!! :) All the best to the participants! Let your innovative thoughts flow in....!

  • Sorry Sir, Weekend and my kids hog my time ! I saw it come thru, I have not

  • Hey, Thanks for the heads up. It is a great idea and I am sure it's going to turn out to be a wonderful event. *Dusts off thinking cap and puts it on* :)
  • Thank you dreamer :-) . Will look forward to your posts..
  • HI, I am new to indimag, and haven't published anything yet. So I was wondering: if I post something now, will it be considered valid for story contest? or do I have to wait till 8th to post my story? ALso, how long should it be? Is there a limit?

I wanted to ask this a long time back, but somehow forgot.
There is no word limit, is there?

My mind is empty right now, and dunno whether I'll get a plot. I hope I'll get one soon. Either ways, thank you so much for the opportunity. :)
  • No Karthik no word limit what so ever :-)
