TOP-5 JANUARY 31-2010

Indimag Top-5

Across the web, blogs are ablaze with articles that make us sit up and take notice : short stories that tug a nostalgic string ; happenings from around the world ; a helpful tip ; a rant or a vent ; expressions of pure glee and just plain brain dumps…..

Whatever the emotion and the intent, we realize we do come across pieces that impress us, inspire us and inform us.

Here’s “Top-5″ Posts from across the blog-o-sphere that we deem worthy to be shared with our readers. This introductory post does not pick posts from just last week ; it goes as far as my blog inspirations go. But starting next week, our newest editorial staffer  GURIA will run this . From next week, this feature will have a much narrow focus of showcasing the TOP-5 posts from the week preceeding.

Guria, who will compile-edit this going forward brings a keen eye, a language that expresses that eye for detail and an effervescent personality. We are confident she will be bringing us a platter of delectable blog-bytes week after week. Welcome Guria, we are glad to have you run this for INDImag.

Be sure to check us weekly for updates. Please use our ‘CONTACT US’ to alert us to a good post.

Happy Reading !

  1. If you have to die, can you please do so in Delhi?   – churumuri.com : Though written a while ago in response to how “civil society” chose to show its incivility, this piece was picked up by quite a few news papers and caused a mini furor. Churumuri is hard hitting, un-apologetic and has a wide following in all affairs Bangalore-Mysore. Edited by a veteran journalist this blog has an avid following of knowledgeable commenter. A very simple, yet lively nook in the web.
  2. Anaatha aka Orphan – Anil Jagalur : There was a time when writing short stories did not interest me ; that was until I read this story by Jagalur. The story could not have been more simpler and yet so beautifully narrated. ‘Bareekathe‘ in Jagalur’s URL literally translates to ‘write a story’ but with a twist of pun is used to convey ‘(he is spinning) another tale‘.
  3. ‘Fast Unto Death’ to get what you want! – ER Ramachandran : If someone can do comic posts routinely and with uncanny ease it is ERR. This one takes a swipe at ‘Fast Unto Deaths’ that are the weapons of choice by our netas. ERR has a slew of them.
  4. The Final Expedition – Guria : Purists stress the importance of ‘The Opening Line’ and the ‘First Paragraph’, and it’s with a reason. I, like quite a few people am guilty of the 3 second rule — if the first para does not impress, I skim through the post. But if the first line and the first para is such, I, like many that read this piece will read it a few times over. Simple yet haunting story told lucidly by our editor Guria.
  5. Exclusive Interview with Raju ’3 Idiots’ Hirani : When I think about the most humorous post I have read in the last year or so, what tops the list is this rib tickler that we at INDImag had the pleasure of publishing. This piece by Manorama is pun at it’s best. As opposed to most humor posts where it is a laugh here, a smile there, this had me in splits through and through. Hope it will bring a smile to your face as well…

Madhu Rao

I'm Madhu Rao. You know how blogs and discussions are supposed to be dynamic and exciting but they're usually dull and boring? I have some practical ideas to present them in an entertaining way -- with your help. The result, hopefully, is that people stay awake, have a good time, and return-contribute to INDIMAG. I'm the publisher-founder of INDIMAG and would love to hear from you as to how we are doing. Drop me a line at indimag@gmail.com ie indimag [at] gmail [dot] com with any questions, thoughts, ideas or a plain "Hello". I would appreciate it.
