@Narendra, You said it. If we keep slicing our country, there's no end to it. We should look at solving the issues and slicing up is no solution..

@Alltalknoaction,
            Hey good to see you back !

I'll pour over the swaminomics and respond, but on the first link, like I told Mahesh above, the first comment on the link summarizes my view-point ; here it is again..

Article too academic and divorced from reality

By: Ganesh Patwardhan | 16-Dec-2009

The underlying assumption in the article appears to be that there is a will to govern and size hinders effective administration. Here’s another point of view: Every new state means new assembly / council, new set of cabinet ministers, new houses (lifelong free tenancy?) for the assembly and council members, new police force and opportunity to exercise control over it, new High Courts, other judiciary all the allied paraphernalia, more avenues for political careers for sons/daughters/other relatives, new cars, new helicopters, higher vanity enhancing security grades and ‘black cats’, new powers of patronage, trips abroad with entourage of sixty odd including family members and relatives and five-star hotel stays and so on endlessly. Only then will it be possible for these honorees to extend their valuable service to the ‘poorest of the poor’! Does this explain the clamor for new states? First demonstrate the will to administer by evicting the (at present count) 14 odd ex-MP squatters.

Madhu,

I differ on this subject.

Attaching 2 links which provide good food for thought for smaller states -

http://www.indianexpress.com/news/from-28-to-45/554309/0

http://blogs.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Swaminomics/entry/the-economic-case-for-creating

If, economic development is the basis of separation, then it makes sense.

@Mahesh,
       Read the article and my response would be what the first commenter on the post has posted. Just look at what has happened now, split into 5 pieces and Naidu and Chiranjeevi doing a volte face and the center following suit ..

The underlying assumption in the article appears to be that there is a will to govern and size hinders effective administration.
